Climate Smart Agriculture & Reforestation

Shared Path Uganda and Nsamizi Institute for social development responded to deforestation and climate shocks affecting Rwamwanja Settlement through an 18-month climate resilience project.

We trained 600 farmers on climate-smart agriculture ‘CSA’ practices including drought-resistant crops, organic manure, and agroforestry.

Shared Path Uganda established 3 community tree nurseries and planted 50,000 tree seedlings on degraded land + around institutions. Additionally, 850 energy-saving stoves were piloted to reduce firewood consumption by 60% at household level. This will restore 100 acres of land, improve food security, and build community resilience to climate change while creating green jobs for refugee and host community youth.
